Prof. Dr. V.J.J.M. Bekkers (1963) is professor of public administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He holds the chair on the empirical study of public policy and public policy processes. He studied political science and public administration at Nijmegen University where he got his degree with honors (1987). He obtained his Ph.D. from Tilburg University on a thesis on governance and ICT (1994), where he also occupied a position as an assistant professor (1990-1994) and, later on, as an associate professor in public administration (1994-1998). His main research interests are related to the question how and under which conditions do information and communication technologies (ICT) and new media contribute to the innovation of different policy processes (agenda setting, policy development, implementation and service delivery and evaluation).
